BINUS UNIVERSITY has held P2A Virtual Journeys online via Zoom in collaboration with partner universities over the course of June 2020. The objective behind the online collaboration was to ensure the continuation of international collaboration opportunities for students in spite of the current situation which has restricted international travel.
The first P2A Virtual Journey took place on the 2nd-4th June 2020 between Rangsit University, Thailand and BINUS UNIVERSITY on the topic of the Pandemic; Social and Behavioural Changes. The virtual summit consisted of 5 hours of online sessions over the course of 3 days in the form of lectures, presentations and group discussions. It involved 13 students from RSU and 5 from BINUS UNIVERSITY with 5 spectators and 2 facilitators.
The second P2A Virtual Journey on the topic of Ecotourism and Sustainable Development was held on the 15th-25th June 2020 via Zoom and other applications. The session involved 29 students in total, 17 international students from 4 different countries and 12 Indonesian students in addition to 5 lecturers and 2 facilitators.
In each session conducted in English, students had the chance to meet their peers from other countries and discuss a range of topics through the lens of what impact they can make as the young generation that is part of the ASEAN. The topics of each lecture and discussion group were carefully curated with the inclusion of engaging activities and organised to ensure that all participants felt comfortable in sharing their contributions.
As the COVID-19 Pandemic continues to reshape our daily lives, BINUS UNIVERSITY is harnessing technology and its global links to provide students with an international learning environment without having to leave Indonesia. The success of these initial pilot projects will pave the way for future P2A Virtual Journeys on other topics of relevance for the future.
