From 16th August – 13th September 2017, BINUS UNIVERSITY students from the BINUS ASO School of Engineering participated in a sponsored summer course in Japan. Established in collaboration with the Japan-based ASO College Group, the annual summer programme is designed to expose students to diverse Japanese industries and its business community. This year, students studied with the ASO Architecture and Design College as well as the ASO College of Automotive Engineering and Technology through which they examined industry trends in the demand for greater automation within labour-intensive manufacturing sectors in Asia; it is hoped graduates will have the technical skills to lead Indonesia in this regard.
Furthermore, the programme concluded with an industrial visit to the Toyota Motors Kyushu Miyata Factory where students received first-hand experience in the manufacturing process of Lexus cars. From stringent quality control practices to brand positioning and 3D modelling, the company showcased the latest advancements in its car development strategy that has earned Lexus its worldwide reputation for high-quality products and excellent customer service. Students were also shown how the combination of innovative technology and premium luxury allowed the brand to become renowned for its superior vehicle reliability and rapid expansion to more than 90 countries.
BINUS UNIVERSITY’s summer course is demonstrative of the university’s commitment to delivering programmes that help graduates thrive in professional settings overseas. Additionally, this unique course will enable graduates to propel the increased production of more complex, value-added goods that will be vital to Indonesia’s future economy.
