On 12th April 2016, BINUS INTERNATIONAL recently hosted the INDOPED ceremonial opening at The Joseph Wibowo Center in partnership with the European Union in its latest measure to expand the capacity of lecturers engaged in Indonesia’s higher education sector. The INDOPED project is a three-year programme that is utilised as a platform for academic professionals to share a number of innovative teaching approaches. This year’s event focused on the topic of ‘Modernising Indonesian Higher Education with Tested European Pedagogical Practices’ and is held from 12th – 14th April 2016. In featuring this topic, INDOPED emphasised the pillars of ‘Improving the Quality and Relevance of Higher Education’ and ‘Linking Higher Education, Research, and Business’.
Participants of the event included four additional leading local universities – Universitas Islam Negeri, SEAMOLEC, and Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta among others – in addition to five European universities such as the University of Gdańsk, InHolland University of Applied Sciences, and Business Academy Aarhus. As part of the event, every university representative gained the opportunity to exchange knowledge on a number of teaching methodologies that would further enhance the quality of higher education provided to Indonesian students. This effort also complements the central government’s measures to improve upon the national education sector by establishing an adept team of teaching professionals throughout the archipelago. As a region renowned for its superior higher education quality, European universities therefore stand as ideal partners with the expertise and experience to draw upon the necessary skills to further advance Indonesian universities.
BINUS INTERNATIONAL’s attendance during the INDOPED event is set to expand its already extensive network of overseas partners particularly those based in Europe as well as strengthen its ties to local partners. Furthermore, BINUS INTERNATIONAL continues to showcase its commitment to advanced higher education that has made the university well-known for highly-qualified lecturers and a globally-oriented curriculum.
