BINUS University Doctorate of Research in Management (DRM) Student, Leonardus Wahyu Wasono Mihardjo, has broken the record for the most international publications from a doctoral program student in Indonesia. As the Chief Finance and Business Partner Officer (CFBPO) at PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), Leonardus’ research has focused on the topic on digital business transformation and strategy; a subject of vital significance for Indonesian and international businesses alike. His most recent publication marked his 45th publication in an international journal, the highest every recorded for a doctorate (S3) student in Indonesia.
The dissertation piece investigated the shift taking place in the transformation taking place to become digital businesses, namely from a strength-based strategy (comparative and competitive advantage) to a cooperative advantage-based strategy or commonly known as co-creation strategy. The research found that the digital transformation phase of the ICT industry in Indonesia must rely on the unique core competencies of each company before being developed into platform-based services. Leonardus’ body of work is proving to be of great value to businesses in Indonesia who are undergoing the process of digital transformation as well as to regulators who are seeking to reshape Indonesia’s information and technology regulations to be more conducive by offering input to be able to increase the role of regulation in creating digital ecosystems in Indonesia.
The breaking of the record for the volume of research published in international journals by a doctoral student in Indonesia is remarkable given that Leornardus’ research was completed at a rapid pace thus highlighting the strengths of BINUS University’s range of post graduate programs which provide the necessary structure and tools for professionals to excel in their field and make a decisive impact on their industry. Furthermore, the record stands in contrast to the more common perception that there is a dearth of Indonesian research that merits international recognition and publication by highlighting just one example of the wealth of valuable research that the country has to offer.
