Mobile apps have become indispensable in our daily lives. They are easy-to-use, cost-effective, and can be easily downloaded from the relevant online store. With these advantages, mobile apps, therefore, have the potential to leverage productivity and improve quality, particularly in industrial zones. As a university committed to its heritage in information technology, BINUS UNIVERSITY collaborated with multinational technology company Apple, to establish the Apple Developer Academy at its Tangerang campus in March 2018 – the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
The academy provides a 9-month course on Apple’s programming language Swift, which has created apps for iOS, Apple TV, and Apple Watch. With the skills gained over the course of the program, students can develop their own apps and bring them to market on the Apple Store. Furthermore, students are mentored by Apple-trained instructors and the curriculum also covers the programming language Objective-C in addition to Swift, providing participants with the freedom and capabilities to create the next generation of cutting-edge software. With the first cohort graduating in March 2019, graduates of this program are well-equipped to make a positive impact on Indonesia's increasingly digitizing society.
Through this partnership, BINUS UNIVERSITY demonstrates its capacity to form international collaborations with organizations that offer superior technological advancements.
