BINUS Global Collaboration Center, BINUS Career, BINUS Entrepreneurship Center, the Research and Technology Transfer Office, and Teach For Indonesia。
BINUS UNIVERSITY’s Bioinformatics and Data Science Research Centre (BDSRC), aims to showcase the numerous research opportunities that are made available at the centre through the availability of cutting-edge tools and comprehensive learning resources. With unparalleled focus in the field of bioinformatics, the research interests of the BDSRC allow for the development of computational methods for collecting and analysing a wide array of biological data. Furthermore, through the centre's collaborative efforts with international and local partners, the university is able to provide state-of-the art facilities and an interdisciplinary learning and training environment for students as well as researchers.
The research opportunities at the BDSRC are specialised in the areas of colorectal cancer, the development of an Indonesian cancer registry system in addition to a genetic screening tool designed to detect the genetics of nicotine addiction and smoking behaviour. Moreover, with Indonesia expected to enter an era in which lifestyle-related illnesses such as cancer and cardiovascular disease are set to become future health concerns, the BDSRC will utilise novel computational approaches to solving these important biological issues as well as provide the training in science and technology.
Through the BDSRC’s research interests, the centre hopes to illustrate how bioinformatics and computational biology are key components to understanding the functional aspects of human diseases. This also demonstrates BINUS UNIVERSITY’s forward-thinking approach to advancing knowledge for communities through the development of research centres, as the university seeks to address prevailing issues within Indonesia’s socio-economic development.
