On 20th May 2017, Perbanas Institute hosted its annual Sports Vaganza event held at the Patriot Stadium in Bekasi West Java province. Sports Vaganza features a ‘sportainment’ concept aimed towards high-school students that combine a selection of sporting activities with entertainment. As a higher education institution that prides itself on providing the optimal combination of sports and academics to its students, the Sports Vaganza event highlights the institute’s reputation for producing professional athletes that have competed on the international stage.
Present at the event was Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr Wiwiek Prihandini, and Vice Rector for Student General Affairs Mr Akbar Silondae Flow SH. LL.M who both reiterated the institution’s commitment to fostering the development of Indonesian athletes through its well-orientated sports curricula and state-of-the-art training facilities — the event was further complemented by a live DJ and a dance performance by Perbanas students.
Sports Vaganza saw Perbanas Institute provide free futsal and basketball coaching clinics, exhibition games, and freestyle games. The institute invited Indonesian national futsal players Mr Vennard Hutabarat, Mr Sunny Rizky, Mr Reza Yamani, and Mr Bayu Saptaji to teach the futsal clinic whereas Indonesian national basketball players Mr Daniel Wenas, Mr Faisal J. Achmad, Mr Sandy Ibrahim, and Dhino Dwijaya provided the basketball coaching; both the futsal and basketball coaches are alumni of Perbanas Institute and further demonstrating the institute's contribution to the country's sports industry.
