On 26th – 27th August 2016, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya hosted the BEST Challenge competition at its BSD campus which aims to provide insights to local high school students on the current international business and economic climate. The latest BEST Challenge competition focused on aspects of the sharing economy and market expansion and thus Universitas Prasetiya Mulya cooperated with companies highly-involved in the aforementioned fields such as PT GoJek Indonesia in developing case studies for the participants. Moreover, a number of prominent business leaders from esteemed companies attended the event including Rector of Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, Prof. Dr. Djisman Simandjuntak; Mr Gilang Gibranthama as Product Head of Go-Massage at PT GoJek Indonesia; Mr Vicario Reinaldo as Traveloka’s People and Organisational Development Analyst, and Mr Giovanni Krisnawan as PT Pratama Capital Assets Management’s Equity Research Analyst.
The BEST Challenge competition required students to submit an essay or video regarding challenges impacting the global economy. This measure thus saw in attendance well-informed and globally-minded students with the readiness to play a role in the business sector. As part of the event, participants were provided case studies based on real projects from PT GoJek Indonesia; jurors took into account factors such as critical thinking and analysis as well as innovative ideas upon deciding on the winners. Springfield School’s Crushers team placed 1st in the competition followed by SMAN 2 of South Tangerang and Santa Laurensia High School from Serpong. Furthermore, the event also included a seminar, workshop, and a debate competition as a measure to equip students with direct industry insights in addition to honing their soft skills. Universitas Prasetiya Mulya through the BEST Challenge competition hopes to broaden its participants’ perspective and knowledge of the business sector hence spurring developments amidst the global economic slowdown.
