On 8th June 2017, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya through its Entrepreneurial Energy Engineering undergraduate study programme officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with renewable energy company, ATW Sejahtera, at a ceremony held at its BSD campus. This latest cooperation will see ATW Sejahtera provide internship schemes for the university's enrolled students in addition to scholarship programmes. Furthermore, the company and Universitas Prasetiya Mulya will actively engage in knowledge transfer and joint venture initiatives in the field of renewable energy engineering.
Present at the event was Prof. Dr. Yudi Samyudia as Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Janson Naiborhu as Dean of the School of Applied STEM (Science, Technology. Engineering, and Mathematics); Dr. Lina Jaya Diguna as Head of the Entrepreneurial Energy Engineering study programme; Founder of ATW Sejahtera Mrs Caroline T. Weno; President Director of ATW Sejahtera Mr Paulus Adi Wahono; and Mr Victor Samuel from REC Solar Group. Mr Wahono reiterated the importance of renewable energy engineering in helping to tackle the issues surrounding climate change, energy sustainability, security, and affordability. As such, renewable energy engineers will be at the forefront of developing new means for energy extraction and designing energy-efficient technology that utilises renewable energy resources such as wind and solar power.
With Indonesia seeking to steer away from commodity-based exports, the country showcases an enormous potential for the production of renewable energy. Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s recent MOU signing thus demonstrates the university’s active role in producing graduates that can contribute to Indonesia’s ability to harness these sustainable sources of energy as well as provide solutions to the challenges of energy supply, demand, and waste among Indonesian companies and industries.
