On 27th January 2017, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with renowned Norwegian company, REC Group as a means to promote the development of its recently launched Energy Engineering undergraduate study programme. REC Group is a company with expertise in solar panel production as well as boasts strong knowledge regarding renewable energy. Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya Prof. Dr. Yudi Samyudia and Vice President of Sales for Asia Pacific at REC Group, Mr Torgeir Ulset signed the MOU at REC Group's office in Singapore. Among the list of senior-level management members at the event included Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s Prof. Djoko Wintoro, Ph.D. as Vice Rector II for Operations, Finance, Accounting, and Human Resources Management and Prof. Dr. Janson Naiborhu as Dean of School of Applied STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
As part of the partnership, REC Group is expected to share its in-depth insights regarding solar photovoltaic technology encompassing raw materials processing, manufacturing techniques, and solar panel production methods to Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s students. This is in keeping with the mutual goal of developing learning tools and resources with a specific focus on renewable energy as well as promoting greater information exchange amongst institutions across a wide-range of industries. Moreover, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s Energy Engineering students will have the opportunity to partake in internship programmes, factory visits, and industry exposure events at REC Group as part of the newly-formed cooperation. Universitas Prasetiya Mulya and its partner will also explore additional forms of future collaboration so as to ensure an effective as well as an industry-based learning experience for the university’s undergraduate students.
