On 29th March 2017 – 8th April 2017, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya hosted the Indonesian Culture and Nationalism (ICN) 2017 event which sought to underline the important role of today’s youth in pushing Indonesia’s development forward. The event which took place at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s BSD campus hoisted the theme of “AKULTURASI” which was aimed to showcase concrete contributions from previous Indonesian youths that have resulted in bringing about positive social change in Indonesia; this year also marked ICN’s fifth year as an annual event. In keeping with its target audience, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya invited local youths from 34 provinces across Indonesia that have been pre-selected to present their social projects to a board of highly-skilled jury members. Prominent attendees at the event included Irjen. Pol. Boy Rafli Amar as Head of Human Resources Division at the Indonesian Police Force, Ms Ayu Gani as the Winner of Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3, Ms Yenny Wahid as Director of The Wahid Institute, and Mr Alfito Deannova as News Anchor and Director at CNN Indonesia amongst a slew of others.
This year’s ICN event featured two key programmes which were the conference session and food exhibition event held between 5th – 8th April 2017. The ICN Conference included a workshop programme, city tour, and a group discussion on the topic of nationalism. Among other topics that were covered in the workshop were social entrepreneurship, project management, and financing. Selected participants of the ICN Conference were obliged to provide a presentation which explained their solutions in overcoming social challenges impacting Indonesian society. Participants were categorised into five primary groups with a specialised focus ranging from entrepreneurship, education, and environment; jurors chose five of the top social projects in each category in which winners were entitled to 10,000,000 IDR in funding to kick-start their endeavours. In hosting the Indonesian Culture and Nationalism event, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya hopes to have inspired Indonesia’s youth in developing the courage to make a significant contribution to the country.
