As one of Indonesia’s foremost institutions in business education, on 16th July 2016, an elite team of Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s master’s students was awarded first place at the prestigious Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) Future Leader Challenge competition held in Thailand. Representing Universitas Prasetiya Mulya under the team name of ‘Amerta’ were master’s students Mr Dody Iswandi Maulawan, Mr Haris Handy, Mr Mario Alvrisky and Ms Yufita Eftiana. The group successfully completed a series of challenges that showcased their abilities to provide solutions and ideas for real business cases. Amerta dominated in several categories and succeeded in overcoming 80 teams from 11 countries across the world. This most recent accomplishment by Universitas Prasetiya Mulya demonstrates the institute’s capacity to equip its students with the resources needed to become future business leaders.
Now running in its third year, the SCB Future Leader Challenge is a collaborative effort between The Siam Commercial Bank Plc and the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University that demands the application of in-class business theories to different business scenarios; this year the competition required the teams understand and provide business solutions to different case studies involving some of the largest multinational as well as local companies, such as LINE Corporation and Thai Wacoal Plc – participants were judged by a panel that consisted of business leaders and industry experts whereby they had to present their ideas through presentations and debates, challenging their analytical as well as communication skills.
In winning this competition, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya showcases that its students have the necessary business knowledge and soft skills to effectively compete against students from prominent institutions across the globe. This is in keeping with the university’s objective of producing entrepreneurs and business leaders orientated towards accurate business planning and successful strategizing for the globalised environment.
