“ At present, our main priority is to strengthen our cooperation with both local and foreign universities. This is imperative because in this global era, we cannot rely solely on ourselves if we plan to grow further. ”
This institution was founded in 1968, initially having three faculties; Pharmacy, Law, and Business and Economics. Over the course of our history, beginning in 1984, this configuration grew significantly with the addition of faculties such as Psychology, Engineering, Biotechnology, as well as Creative Industry programs. The University of Surabaya came to establish the aforementioned faculties having acknowledged that Indonesia needed skilled human resources in those fields. We currently receive an “A” Institutional Accreditation score and offer 21 study programs, most of which have received “A” accreditation from Indonesia’s National Accreditation Board - Higher Education Institute (BAN-PT). Our most recent development is the newly-established Faculty of Medicine which we created in order to complement our existing healthcare courses.
At present, our main priority is to strengthen our cooperation with both local and foreign universities. This is imperative because in this global era, we cannot rely solely on ourselves if we plan to grow further. One important point to also bring up within that context is that any partnership must respect the value of diversity. As an institution with an international outlook, to establish ourselves as a global university is to substitute cultural homogeneity with diversity. In accomplishing this goal of broadening our network, we also realize that it is important to increase the quality of the learning process, the resources of our institution, as well as our services to society. As such, we need partners; not necessarily limited to just universities, but also with companies. This perspective has brought us to participate in numerous collaborations, including with local governments, business organizations, the media, as well as with institutions such as hospitals. To further serve this purpose, University of Surabaya created a special unit, the Office of Institutional Cooperation, to coordinate all of our activities in this domain.
