Established in 1968, the University of Surabaya (UBAYA) is one of the longest standing higher education institutions in Surabaya, Indonesia. The university originally comprised of three faculties; Pharmacy, Law, and Business and Economics providing quality education through its core belief to become a university in the ‘hearts and minds’ of the people. This quality is evident through the university’s expansion and development of other faculties such as Psychology, Engineering, Biotechnology, Creative Industries and Medicine, spread across three campuses. Fully devoted to education and research development, UBAYA is active in cooperating with universities in the UK, China, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, Germany, USA, Canada, Netherlands and France. Through its research and learning centres, UBAYA engages in student and faculty exchanges. This is evident from the launch of the ‘International Village’; a pioneering concept that connects various international and educational institutions under one roof, supporting the exchange of knowledge and culture between Indonesia and the international community. This unique portal is accessible to the public free of charge and is an example of one of the public services offered by UBAYA. The university is open to new possibilities for collaboration with other educational establishments and private sector organizations.
UBAYA is located in Indonesia’s second largest city and the provincial capital of East Java, Surabaya. The city is a key node in various national and international air, water and land transportation networks, containing one of Asia’s largest and busiest seaports.
Located in this increasingly modernising city are UBAYA’s three campuses. Two are located strategically within the city whilst the third is located in Trawas, designed as an integrated outdoor campus and the location of UBAYA’s Training Centre.

From 26th – 28th October 2016, students from the Industrial Engineering study programme at UBAYA participated in the National Quality Engineering Competition 2016 event which was held in Jakarta. On 4th October 2016, University of Surabaya hosted its 50th oath ceremony for its pharmacy students at the JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya. Graduates of the Pharmacy study programme are required by Indonesian law to undertake a pledge to maintain the upmost integrity and professionalism and to utilise their pharmaceutical knowledge to benefit patients.Read More
