As a university focused on research development, UNSRI welcomes partnerships from higher education institutions for collaborations on cutting-edge research projects. The university has partnered with Japanese universities in the field of agriculture and environmental sustainability as well as organisations such as UNESCO in the field of Plant Science. Furthermore, the university has built a research consortium with universities in Germany and China among others. Through such consortiums, UNSRI stands at the forefront of optimising added-value research opportunities that can be executed in a coordinated, strategic manner. UNSRI’s well-established Research Institutes as well as the Community Services and Development Institutes engage in a number of community outreach efforts. Through these Research Institutes, UNSRI has been able to enhance the learning experience for its students as well as contribute to the local region through its research projects. The Faculty of Economics at UNSRI was established in 1960 and has grown from the traditional focus of understanding prices and competitive markets to include a more broadened portfolio that answers many of the social science questions posed in the light of Indonesia’s increased globalisation. Students are also encouraged to undertake research in order to address the social challenges facing the country, utilising analytical and statistical tools to provide solutions. Through this rigorous approach, UNSRI graduates are encouraged to take the initiatives in their academic experience and apply it to the industry at large.
The faculty offers study programmes at diploma, undergraduate, master’s and doctoral level, applying a student-centred approach that accommodates a wide range of interests. The Faculty of Economics provides a diverse range of study programmes from Accounting, Management and Developmental Economics for the undergraduate level to postgraduate programmes in Financial Management. The study programmes provide students with the intermediate theory in economics so as to build a strong foundation on the fundamentals of economic principles.
A doctorate programme is also available offering diverse majors in Regional Development Economics, Industrial and Agribusiness Economics, Human Resource Economics and Financial Marketing among others. As a university focused on research, UNSRI’s Faculty of Economics showcases a comprehensive selection of research interests, covering areas in accounting, management and economic development. Graduates of this faculty are at the forefront of tackling current issues affecting Indonesia’s development such as poverty, inequality globalisation and trade as well as the economic impact of healthcare access. The faculty’s high-calibre human resources have therefore developed the necessary expertise and experience to guide students in their research initiatives and career objectives.
