As part of UNSRI’s efforts to improve and promote the advancement of knowledge in public health, the university’s Faculty of Public Health strives to produce future researchers and practitioners with the capacity to engage with communities to prevent disease and disability. In addition, such individuals will focus on implementing solutions in areas such as epigenetics, mental health, disaster response and chronic diseases. Through the multi-disciplinary degree made available at the faculty, students gain insights into the health needs of populations at all stages of development. With the implementation of Indonesia’s Universal Healthcare Programme, graduates at UNSRI are able to address the core of the human condition such as disparities, access to healthcare as well as the social and cultural determinants of disease.
The Faculty of Public Health delivers programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in Public Health, Health Policy Administration, Public Health Nutrition and Occupational and Environmental Health. Students study comprehensive curricula composed of theoretical and practical aspect that enable graduates to utilise their distinctive analytical skills and scientific understanding for the benefit of society. The Faculty of Public Health’s teaching faculty delivers a multi-method teaching approach that encourages discourse regarding current issues surrounding public health so as to ensure research is relevant and applied. As such, the rise in the internationalisation of businesses has also accelerated the increased risk of global health issues and therefore requires the need for innovative research as well as strategies for containment and prevention.
Indonesia’s accelerated economic development has resulted in its government pushing towards better public health awareness. As such, UNSRI’s Faculty of Public Health recognises the need to address health priorities; especially in resource-poor areas. Through the implementation of evidence-based public health efforts, graduates from UNSRI are able to institute measures that promote wellness and prevent disease. Furthermore, with the use of modern technology in medicine as well as the ability to share data online, UNSRI graduates can provide an array of new innovative healthcare solutions that can actively improve Indonesia’s healthcare sector.
