“ Indonesia needs to expand its infrastructure and electricity capacity in order to increase industrial development. ”
Tracon Industri is a subsidiary of PT Rekayasa Industri, one of the largest EPC construction companies in Indonesia. Several years ago, three subsidiaries were founded by the company of which Tracon Industri is one of them; providing industrial plant services focused on pre-EPC services such as front-end engineering design and feasibility as well as pre-feasibility studies. Furthermore, following the building of an industrial plant, we also offer project management services and material sourcing in addition to pre-commissioning, operations and maintenance services. Once a plant is fully operational, we assist our clients in optimising the plant’s performance and ensure minimum downtime.
The current government’s plan of 35 GW of new electricity generation is an ambitious plan but we fully support our government’s goal. Indonesia needs to expand its infrastructure and electricity capacity in order to increase industrial development, as many investors face situations where they are required to build their own power plant so as to power their industrial operations; particularly outside of Java. There have been cases where large scale investment in smelter operations, for example, have been shifted from regions such as Papua to Java due to the lack of available electricity. This is a missed opportunity for Indonesia’s emerging regions to develop and attract investment.
Indonesia has the potential to develop new areas for industrial activity, but electricity infrastructure is vital; greater regional development will bring significant opportunities for the construction of new industrial plants and would therefore be highly-positive for Indonesia and for us as a company.
At Tracon Industri, we aim to benchmark ourselves against the best plant operators in the world. Our human resources are well-equipped and highly-experienced; this is what allows us to compete effectively. The ASEAN Economic Community will bring about great challnges for us but we also see this as an opportunity to work on projects outside of Indonesia.
What makes Tracon Industri unique is the skillset of our manpower and our longstanding experience in this sector. For example, before we initiate a project, we aim to establish an effective communication channel to fully understand our clients’ concerns for both the operational and technical aspects of the project. It is this level of care which has cultivated loyalty among our client base.
Moreover, Tracon Industri’s reputation speaks for itself, in addition to being backed up by a major EPC player which provides us with plentiful resources, we specialise on projects on an industrial scale. This has enabled us to significantly increase our net profit margin for the last three years and enabled us to have ‘AAA’ rating, making us very attractive to investors.
Our company is very open to opportunities to work with international partners. Currently, we are managing on behalf of our client, a 300 million Euro industrial processing plant in Semangke, North Sumatra and Tracon Industri is responsible for the construction, management and commissioning of the project. Moreover, we also have plans to build a large scale industrial plant for oleochemical processing in Dumai, Sumatra.
Our experience means that investors can feel protected in establishing partnerships with us as we can assist in every stage of the project from choosing the most suitable technology, to procurement assistance and project implementation.
Our vision for the future is to become an energy services company so as to maximise the efficiency and reliability of industrial plants. This sector is more advanced outside of Indonesia and is also capital intensive to develop. Therefore, we are interested in working with investors that can offer capital at a more competitive rate as well as those with expertise in the field of technology transfer.
Tracon Industri is an industrial plant ‘medical check-up’ specialist; this is the tagline we tell to our clients. We therefore solve any problems that may arise throughout the project as well as regularly implement plant maintenance so as to increase efficiency. In terms of technological cooperation, we would be interested in working with partners that have the necessary technology that can be applied to specific industries in Indonesia. For example, we have collaborated with a Dutch partner specifically for the development of fertiliser plants. There are various industries in Indonesia that this approach can be applied to such as oil refineries, sugar production plants and many others.
Come to Indonesia to invest but also to bring expertise and experience. For prospective partners in our sector we welcome the opportunity to work together and to realise the numerous opportunities in our industry that Indonesia has to offer.
