On 18th May 2017, BNI Syariah in cooperation with the Nara Kreatif Foundation held CSR activities for street children at an event held in Jakarta. The event was also held in collaboration with the bank’s Hasanah Titik Foundation. The Nara Foundation was established to provide training to street children in areas such as recycling waste paper into items of economic value. Present at the event were Corporate Secretary of BNI Syariah Ms Endang Rosawati, Supervisory Board Member of Nara Kreatif Prof Raldi Artono Koestoer, and founder of Nara Kreatif Mr Zatullah Ramadhan; Mr Ramadhan is also an Ambassador of BNI Syariah’s Hasanah Community programme.
Established in 2012, the Nara Kreatif Foundation also provides educational opportunities for street children, and, as such, its innovative programmes have helped hundreds of children gain important skills. The foundation’s primary programme is utilising waste paper into items of economic value such as to produce handicrafts, school facilities, and other development activities — sales from these items are used to run the foundation’s dormitories in which street children can stay. As part of the collaboration, BNI Syariah will introduce its Hasanah Journalistic Programme which aims to provide training for street children in photography and writing in addition to Hasanah Qur’ani, Hasanah Ecopreneur, and Hasanah Empowerment.
As a bank that aims to raise public awareness for Hasanah through selected individuals like Mr Ramadhan, BNI Syariah hopes that such initiatives have long-lasting impact on the development of local communities. As such, the bank serves as a platform to serve those in need through its wide range of services from loans to zakat funds. This is an area of focus the bank continues to encourage to further socialise its Hasanah ideals.
