On 8th February 2018, BNI Syariah partnered with the Hasanah Titik Foundation to conduct its CSR activities in aid of flood-affected children in East Jakarta. The area was severely impacted by flooding which forced around 740 residents including some 250 children to evacuate their homes. The bank distributed school supplies to two elementary schools as well as water and milk for residents at a temporary evacuation centre.
BNI Syariah organised reading and storytelling sessions for the school children — in collaboration with local NGO Dongeng Ceria — as a means to provide structured learning activities that aimed to mitigate the psychological effects of natural disasters and displacement, in addition to helping bring a sense of normalcy to many families. Moreover, the bank and its NGO partners were also able to educate residents on basic health and hygiene practices in flood-affected environments.
As a socially responsible bank, BNI Syariah actively develops and engages various CSR programmes to support community welfare. These have included the distribution of basic goods, training assistance, and financial support; a testament to the bank's continued drive in promoting its Hasanah corporate culture.
