On 18th April 2017, BNI Syariah signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) – Jogjakarta that will focus on technology transfer initiatives for the ongoing development of Islamic banking in Indonesia. The UII – Jogjakarta is a leading higher education institution that is renowned for its Islamic-based teaching method. The event was attended by President Director of BNI Syariah, Mr Abdullah Firman Wibowo. Rector of Islamic University of Indonesia – Jogjakarta, Mr Nandang Sutrisno, SH.M Hum, LLM, PhD, and Operational Director of BNI Syariah, Mr Junaidi Hisom among a slew of other prominent guests.
As part of the MOU agreement, BNI Syariah will serve as an industry partner for UII – Jogjakarta for the scope of education, research, and community service to the local university. Furthermore, BNI Syariah will carry out financial management programmes for its partner in addition to utilising the bank’s wide-ranging banking products. Among the measures that will be implemented is the utilisation of BNI Syariah’s digital and cash management services that aim to streamline the UII – Jogjakarta’s current monetary management system. In keeping with technology transfer purposes, both parties are poised to carry out internship initiatives in order to bolster knowledge exchange and hone in on key skills that are essential for the future development of shariah banking in Indonesia. Through its latest MOU signing, BNI Syariah is well-prepared to guide Indonesia’s local talents in pursuing a career in Islamic banking and finance to further catapult the growth of its industry.
