On 11th August 2017, BNI Syariah participated in the Shariah Finance Industry Expo 2017 (KSF) which was held at the Cirebon Superblok in Cirebon and was organised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The bank also inaugurated the Cash Management Cooperation Agreement with the Assunah Cirebon Foundation — an NGO that runs an Islamic school in the city. The expo served as a marketing and socialisation event that aimed to recognise the potential of Indonesia’s shariah finance industry and featured various players from the country’s shariah banking sector in addition to Directorates of the Islamic Banking, Non-Bank Financial Industry, and Shariah Capital Markets divisions of the OJK.
Attending the event were BNI Syariah’s President Director Mr Abdullah Firman Wibowo, BNI Syariah’s Head of the Western Region of Indonesia Mr Muhammad Syarif, Head of the bank’s Cirebon branch Mr Agus Nugroho, and Chairman of the Assunah Cirebon Foundation Mr Muhammad Toharo. Through its latest cooperation with the foundation, BNI Syariah will assist the organisation with access to the bank’s many services such as opening a virtual account for internet banking as well as for multi-purpose financial transactions; this would allow the foundation to efficiently manage its finances through the convenience of cashless transactions. Furthermore, the bank also provided scholarships to the students of Assunah Cirebon Foundation in addition to exclusive promotions for new customers.
As a socially responsible bank, BNI Syariah actively engages in a variety of CSR programmes that showcase its leading role as a state-owned enterprise that’s dedicated to the development of local communities. As such, the bank thus serves as a platform to assist NGOs looking to utilise shariah-compliant digitalised banking through its wide range of products services.
