On 26th August 2015, PT Pan Brothers Tbk inaugurated four new factories to be operated by its subsidiary, PT Eco Smart Garment Indonesia (ESGI). A ceremony was held marking the opening of these manufacturing facilities in the Regency of Boyolali, Central Java. During the event, Indonesia’s Minister of Industry, Mr Saleh Husin, signed ceremonial plaques in front of other esteemed guests which included President Director of Pan Brothers, Mr Ludijanto Setijo; Vice President Director of Pan Brothers, Ms Anne Patricia Sutanto; President Commissioner of ESGI, Mr Tetsuya Yamada; parliament member, Ms Endang Srikarti Handayani; and caretaker regent of Boyolali, Ms Sri Ardiningsih.
Pan Brothers’ move to open multiple new factories received positive responses from both the central government as well as the regional government of Boyolali due to its prospective impact. In his remarks, Minister of Industry, Mr Saleh Husin, expressed his support as well as his ministry’s hope for other companies to follow in Pan Brothers’ footsteps. Meanwhile, parliament member Ms Endang Srikarti Handayani pointed out the estimated 12,000 new jobs that have been created by the presence of the factories in addition to helping spur economic growth in the region.
The four new factories which are situated in the sub-districts of Klego and Sambi in Boyolali are part of Pan Brothers’ target to build a total of seven new textile mills in Central Java by 2016. The group has so far completed four such projects with a cumulative investment of $34 million USD (459 billion IDR). To realize this target, Pan Brothers has partnered with Mitsubishi Corporation from Japan and set aside a total investment of $60 million USD. With the addition of four mills, Pan Brothers currently has more than 20 production facilities spread throughout Java to support its vision to become an integrated garment supplier for the global market.
