From 10th October – 1st September 2017, Sarinah and the Indonesian Child Protection Agency (LPAI) co-hosted the Saya Sahabat Anak event at the company’s Thamrin department store in Jakarta. The event served to educate participants on the strategies for action to end violence towards children in Indonesia and around the world. Present at the event on were Jakarta Vice Governor-elect Mr Sandiaga Uno, renowned child activist and LPAI chairman Mr Seto Mulyadi, Ms Heni Adi Hermanoe as LPAI’s General Secretary, as well as elementary school children.
The event was held as part of the Saya Sahabat Anak national movement which aims to fulfil the basic rights for children through education and self-development and is campaigned by the LPAI. The event featured games, exercises, and fairy tale reading in addition to the school children marking their palm prints on a banner to show their solidarity with the suffering of Rohingya children in Myanmar. As such, Sarinah’s recent participation demonstrates the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility by instilling important values to Indonesia’s young generation.
