STEKPI / Trilogi University | Creative Industries

Indonesia’s diverse range of cultures and unique heritage have given rise to a naturally creative national character as expressed in the country’s classical as well as modern art, performing arts, fashion industry and design sectors. The creative industries hold immense potential not only for the local market but also on an international scale and the importance of the sector to the country’s future has been recognised with the creation of the new Ministry of Tourism and the Creative Economy. Trilogi University’s new course caters to young creative minds by providing the tools to hone their technical skills while exploring the practical applications of their creative output.

The creative industries undergraduate degree course offers two concentrations namely product design and visual communication both of which are conducted in collaboration with the Bandung Institute of Technology. The product design course will look into design techniques that utilise Indonesia’s diverse natural resources and tap into the country’s local market and culture. The food and beverage industry in particular will be given specific focus given the demand for innovative packaging design that provides a vehicle for strong marketing and branding from the nation’s burgeoning food and beverage manufacturers.

Within visual communications, the course curriculum is geared towards television advertising and branding by covering the latest trends in the global industry with Indonesian local culture and content playing a key role in practice. The course focuses on advertising and multimedia to provide students with the opportunity to explore a variety of mediums. A range of teaching methods are employed including team based learning to encourage a collaborative approach in addition to individual projects and compulsory internships for students to gain first hand exposure to the industry.
