Local Content Manufacture

At the end of 2009, the Indonesian government through BPMIGAS and the Ministry of Industry issued new requirements on domestic and foreign bidders in state tenders for energy services stipulating that potential contractors source at least 35% of their content locally. This has subsequently been enhanced by further guidelines issued by the Ministry on the Use of Domestic Products in the Construction of Electric Power Infrastructure (No. 48/2010) which further encourages the use of local content and states the varied requirements according to the capacity of the power plant and type such as steam or coal fired. Through DEN’s manufacturing facilities in Surabaya, the company provides high quality, internationally certified local content for boiler and power plant components for both its own projects as well as that of third parties’ to facilitate successful tender bids.

The workshop is located in Surabaya, East Java, close to the port of Tanjung Perak allowing for efficient transport both within Indonesia as well as for international export to markets such as Europe and North America. DEN’s manufacturing capacity enables streamlined coordination across the engineering design, procurement and installation process making the company unique in offering a totally integrated service. In-house manufacturing means that DEN is able to provide a customised design and capacity to client or contractor specifications for coal, gas and oil fired power plants.

DEN’s expertise encompasses the entire supply chain from material handling to fabrication of the final product for all the main components of a range of boiler types. The workshop has the capacity to produce all the pressure parts for a 150 MW coal powered power plant every month including water walls, superheaters, economisers, generating banks, burner and port openings. In addition, the workshop fabricates non pressure parts such as travelling grate stokers, spreaders, ducts, hoppers, piping, stack, steel works and auxiliary equipment. All products are ISO 9001:2008 certified, ASME Code ‘S’ and ‘R’ Stamp as well as meeting local Indonesian industry requirements and are provided with Manufacturing Data Records.

For the future, DEN plans to increase its manufacturing capacity in order to meet the growing demand for boilers with local content. Having successfully cooperated with international partners in the past, DEN is open to working with partners to expand its product range as well as provide local content for power plant projects and tender bids.
