Bahana | Bahana Dana Likuid Named Best Money Market Fund 2015
04.03.2015

Bahana Dana Likuid (BDL), one of Bahana TCW Investment Management’s most prominent products, on 4th March 2015 received the prestigious distinction of being named the Best Money Market Fund of 2015 by Investor Magazine. This award was presented as part of the local business publication's annual ‘Prospect and Challenger’ competition, in recognition of Bahana Dana Likuid’s +9.03% rate of return over the last year which made it the best performing money market fund.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr Edward Lubis as President Director of Bahana TCW Investment Management provided insights into Bahana Dana Likuid’s success in becoming the country’s Best Money Market Fund. “2014 was a year full of political dynamics and uncertainty, with a background of high interest rates in the short-term. Within this kind of environment, investors tend to switch from aggressive products such as equity funds towards more conservative products such as money market funds,” he said. As an attractive choice for investors given this context, Bahana Dana Likuid saw participation grow by 78% in 2014.

Going forward, Mr Lubis anticipates that this trend will change, in that expectations of growth and a decline in interest rates will encourage investors to switch back to a more aggressive strategy through investment in equity funds. Bahana Dana Likuid will continue to serve as an alternative short-term investment particularly well-suited to novice investors.

Following on from this latest achievement, Bahana TCW remains well on course to achieving its target of 12% growth in assets under management (AUM) for 2015. As announced during a Market Outlook event held in January (See Bahana TCW Investment Management Hosts Market Outlook 2015), the firm has its sights set on increasing AUM from 27 trillion IDR to 30 trillion IDR over the course of the year. As of the end of February 2015, Bahana TCW’s AUM had already surpassed 28 trillion IDR.
