Legal Updates | Indonesia: New Intellectual Property Tariffs

On 31st October 2016, the Indonesian government issued Government Regulation No. 45 of 2016 ("GR 45/2016") on types and tariffs of non-tax state revenue applicable to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. GR 45/2016 came into effect on 10th November 2016.

The enactment of GR 45/2016 changes some of the official tariffs at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of Indonesia, including official fees for renewals as well as new trademark filings.

The mechanism of trademark applications in relation to the number of goods or services in one class was also changed in connection with the implementation of GR 45/2016. Previously, the official fees of a trademark application was applied for up to 10 goods or services. An official charge was applied for every additional multiple of 10 goods or services. Under GR 45/2016, the official fees of a trademark application will apply for all goods or services in one class. There will no longer be additional official fees for applications for more than 10 goods or services.
