ENVIPLAST® | ENVIPLAST® Participates in GPP Nationwide Promotion Workshop 2017
29.08.2017

On 29th August 2017, ENVIPLAST® participated at the Green Public Procurement (GPP) Nationwide Promotion Workshop at the Borobudur Hotel in Jakarta. Organised by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in cooperation with the German Cooperation for International Development (GIZ), the event sought to showcase the Ministry’s recently established GPP guidelines and strategies. As such, ENVIPLAST® was invited as part of a select few companies that produce certified environmentally friendly products that have been recognised by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry — products and services are only certified as eco-friendly if they are produced from environmentally friendly raw materials, are energy efficient, recyclable, or are processed through eco-friendly means. Present at the event were representatives from the KLHK, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, government agencies and institutions, as well as international environmental organisations from Japan and Thailand.

Through this workshop, the KLHK highlighted the need for government agencies and institutions to implement greater GPP practises that can contribute towards sustainable patterns of consumption and production in Indonesia. Furthermore, the KLHK reiterated that through the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 54 of 2010 which mandates government institutions to procure goods and services through eco-friendly means, the need for GPP policies will also help Indonesia achieve its sustainable development objectives.

Going forward, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry will establish a cross-ministry GPP team that will coordinate to provide a standardised platform to issue ecolabel certificates for products and services across all sectors; the Ministry will also provide a list for products that have already been certified as eco-friendly in addition to GPP guidelines for companies and businesses to follow.

Through the GPP Nation Wide Workshop, ENVIPLAST® demonstrated its potential to offer products that meet the evolving needs of customers from across a variety of industries. Having already extensively introduced its products in Indonesia, the company is ready to support government initiatives for the development of environmentally friendly alternatives.
