ENVIPLAST® offers its bio-based film to companies that require flexibility in being able to use eco-friendly film for a number of different purposes. ENVIPLAST® film, manufactured under the careful supervision of the company’s skilled technicians via the use of ENVIPLAST® blown film technology, can be made into a variety of different types of bio-based polymer bags, among other applications.

The product’s inherent surface resistivity of 107.5 - 1010 ohm/cm2 makes it static dissipative and facilitates its considerable potential as a packaging option for electronic components that are prone to interference caused by electrostatic. This advantageous quality also ensures that ENVIPLAST® film used as wrapping material will not attract dust. Most conventional HDPE and LDPE plastic films require additives to achieve similar levels of surface resistivity. Furthermore, ENVIPLAST® film’s excellent oxygen barrier (0.0235 ml/100in2 day) makes it well suited for potential use as an economical protective core layer in multi-layer flexible packaging. Other advantageous product features include good oil resistance and the ability to be recycled with paper packaging.

ENVIPLAST® bio-based film has undergone various tests, both in house and by independent third parties, to determine its potential impact on the environment. Research carried out by WIL Research Europe found that when administered to rats via oral gavage, ENVIPLAST® film does not cause mortality nor any health abnormalities considered detrimental to the animal’s well-being. The product therefore passed the animal safety study as referred to as the Assessment of Acute Oral Toxicity based on OECD No. 423 (2001), EC No. 440/2008 B1, EPA OPPTS 870.1100 (2002), and JMAFF (2011). Such is the minimal impact of ENVIPLAST® film on its surrounding environment that it can be consumed by local wildlife without adverse effects on health: a fact thoroughly tested internally via laboratory trials on an array of land and aquatic animals such as snails, worms, crickets and crayfish. This proves that ENVIPLAST® does not contain any plastic and consequently will not produce microplastics (plastic particles smaller than 1 mm in size) during its degradation process on land as well as in the marine environment. Environmental problems caused by microplastics have been a concern among marine researchers for more than a decade, and ENVIPLAST® stands ready to lead the movement away from the harmful plastic materials that produce them.
