On 13th May 2017, market-leading quality paint manufacturer, Indaco, carried out its corporate social responsibility programme (CSR) by planting 1,000 eucalyptus trees in Tawangmangu, Central Java. Tawangmangu – home to the protected forest of the Lawu Mountains – experienced a forest fire in 2012 which impacted the livelihoods of the surrounding communities; today, the forest remains largely dry and deserted. As such, Indaco's assistance to the Tawangmangu communities is part of the company's longstanding support for environmental sustainability initiatives and community development. Indaco’s standing as a pioneer of the green movement is evident in its capacity as a high-quality paint producer which utilises eco-friendly manufacturing methods and materials. Indaco’s CSR team conducted the programme alongside the Karanganyar District Forestry Office as well as with volunteers from various organisations such as the Tawangmangu Motor Solidarity (SOULMATE) and Tawangmangu Community Cares (MANTAP).
During the event, the Karanganyar District Forestry Office provided participants and attendees in-depth information regarding the importance of preserving protected forests in stabilising the natural ecosystem. In doing so, nearby communities would have the opportunity to prevent flooding, minimise erosion, maintain the flow of water and soil fertility in addition to reducing the impact of global warming. Through its unparalleled understanding of the substantial impact of environmental damage towards society and industries, Indaco remains dedicated towards the protection of flora and fauna so as to avoid species extinction and for the promotion of biodiversity. As such, Indaco’s most recent CSR initiative demonstrates the company’s unwavering dedication to the environment and local society that has propelled its name as a highly-responsible industry player in the paints and coating industry.
