Kamadjaja Logistics | CEO Ivan Kamadjaja Interviewed in Marketeers Magazine
01.05.2014

Kamadjaja Logistics CEO Mr Ivan Kamadjaja was featured in the May 2014 edition of Marketeers Magazine – a local media outlet focused on marketing and business in Indonesia. Via a question and answer session Mr Kamadjaja touched upon a host of different topics including his leadership style at Kamadjaja Logistics, the company’s outlook and strategies for the future as well as steps that need to be made by the local logistics industry to raise its quality of service.

When asked about his role at Kamadjaja Logistics, Mr Kamadjaja alluded to the importance of his time spent working outside of the company as an auditor for a multitude of financial institutions during the early stages of his career. As described in the interview, it was through experiences gained within this setting that he was able to develop the ability to analyse and assess a company's management system and corporate structure. Upon returning to Kamadjaja Logistics after his time in the financial sector, Mr Kamadjaja was thus able to identify avenues to improve upon what was then a corporate culture heavily influenced by a family business approach that had become “somewhat old-fashioned”. Via a shift in priorities towards implementing new technology and emphasising professionalism via the use of “situational leadership”, Kamadjaja Logistics has since firmly established itself as one of the leading proponents for modernisation in Indonesian logistics.

In addition to an overview of Mr Kamadjaja’s strategies as CEO of Kamadjaja Logistics, the interview in Marketeers Magazine also touched upon his expectations for the industry going forward. Given the context of Indonesia’s present lack of experts in the field of logistics, Mr Kamadjaja points to potential opportunities brought about by ASEAN economic integration in 2015. Viewed by many as a potential challenge to local logistics service providers due to the projected rise in competition, Kamadjaja Logistics has instead sought to view this development as a chance to collaborate with international experts to further their own capabilities. The company plans to cooperate with logistics businesses from the Philippines and Malaysia; offering its understanding of the Indonesian market to regional partners able to provide advanced expertise in areas such as warehouse management and railways systems.

Collaboration within the ASEAN is very much central to Kamadjaja Logistics’ plans for the immediate future. As noted by Mr Kamadjaja in the featured article, the company expects to enter regional markets within the next two years, in keeping with its present corporate theme of “Spreading Our Wings”.
