On 13th August 2016, Sarinah hosted the ‘Sarinah Restoration’ event alongside state-owned subsidiary unit and construction company Wika Gedung at the historic Braga area in Bandung, West Java. The event introduced guests and visitors to the leading retailer’s upcoming plans of renovating its iconic Sarinah, Bandung site into a modern hotel steeped in traditional Indonesian design; the project is set to become the Hotel Sarinah Braga.
Prominent representatives at the event included Sarinah’s Operational Director Ms Handriani Tjatur Setiowati, General Manager of Lease and Maintenance at Sarinah, Mr Ichsan Fauzi as well as Mr Hari Muljawan as Sarinah’s Expert Staff in Asset Development for Jakarta and West Java; during the event, senior-level management members from Sarinah and Wika Gedung provided a detailed explanation regarding their vision for the Sarinah boutique hotel as a measure to socialise this milestone moment. Moreover, guests were provided with a 3-D graphic design of the future hotel.
The Sarinah department store in Bandung – built in 1962 – once catered to the local, artistic crowd. Situated in one of Bandung’s prime districts, renowned for its wide array of restaurants and art spaces, the development of a boutique hotel as part of Sarinah’s restoration plans will therefore be a welcome addition to the bustling area.
As a company recognised for its ability to preserve local heritage and its historical roots, Sarinah hence ensures that its impending boutique hotel will pay tribute to Indonesia’s diverse cultures. Moving forward, Sarinah is set to further strengthen its business arm in property while maintaining its upper-hand in upholding Indonesian local heritage and hospitality within its business operations.
