IPC, Pelindo II (Persero) | Port Facilities

The striking improvements that have taken place at Tanjung Priok port such as its 24 hour a day operations enable port users to ship directly to Indonesia as a direct destination port as opposed to transhipping from Singapore or Malaysia. IPC plans to further increase the volume of direct shipments to Indonesia in its further infrastructure development plans. While the existing port can handle vessels of up to 4,000 TEUs, the new port facilities will be able to handle the most modern large vessels of up to 18,000 TEUs.

IPC has invested heavily in upgrading its port facilities to offer the most efficient service to port end users. In Tanjung Priok port alone, the company has invested $250 million USD for new container loading cranes comprised of two quay container cranes (QCC) and 11 luffing container cranes (LFF) with a capacity of 40 tons. There has also been an expansion of the port’s roll-on roll-off (Ro-Ro) terminals, the development of a container yard, upgrading of warehouses specifically for coal commodities as well as the widening of the waterways.

IPC’s port facilities will be further enhanced by the three new terminals that will comprise the $2.47 billion USD Kalibaru New Priok development including a new petroleum products terminal. Customers will also be able to access the port facilities more easily through the construction of the new Tanjung Priok toll road which will stretch across 7 km in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and state owned toll road operator Jasa Marga. This toll road will provide direct access to the Jakarta Outer Ring Road and North Jakarta and is due to open in 2014.

Cost effective equipment rental is also available for the swift loading and unloading of goods by port users. IPC provides customers with a complete range of equipment such as forklifts, cranes for land and floating shipments as well as holding boats, tug boats, motorboats and safety equipment such as fire extinguishers. Land, building and jetty rent are also available across IPC’s 12 ports under management.
