Tarumanagara University (UNTAR) on 23rd May 2014 signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) during a visit to the latter’s campus in Penang. Cooperation between the two institutions of higher education will encompass joint research, the publication of academic journals as well as group visits for UNTAR students to USM’s School of Communications.  

The signing of the MoA took place following an extensive discussion period first initiated by the visit of Dr. Eko Harry Susanto, Dean of UNTAR’s Faculty of Communications, to the USM Campus on 13th January 2014 as a means of exploring avenues to pursue mutually beneficial collaboration. In addition to the aforementioned plans to develop initiatives such as joint research, the MoA will also entail potential cooperation in the form of UNTAR’s Faculty of Communications lecturers continuing their education for PhD degrees at USM.

Carrying out the MoA signing on behalf of UNTAR was Prof. Ir. Roesdiman Soegiarso, M.Sc., Ph.D, as the university’s rector. Representing USM was its Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation, Professor Dr. Muhamad Jantan. The event was held in conjunction with USM’s IMPACT 2014 – a showcase of projects carried out by students from the USM School of Communications.
