Tarumanagara University | Tarumanagara University Hosts ICEBM 2015 in Thailand
06.11.2015

Building upon the success of its previous events that gathered leading thinkers from the global academic community, Tarumanagara University (UNTAR) from 5th-6th November 2015 hosted the 2015 instalment of the International Conference of Entrepreneurship and Business Management (ICEBM) in Bangkok, Thailand. As testament to the university’s expansive network of international partners, this conference was organized through cooperation with Thailand’s Dusit Thani College, Taiwan’s Kun Shan University, Malaysia’s Universiti Sains Malaysia and fellow Indonesian institution Ciputra University.

ICEBM 2015 primarily sought to bring together researchers and practitioners to facilitate the discussion of a variety of topics in the field of entrepreneurship and business management. In support of this objective, the conference accepted 61 research papers for publication and presentation – a total that is less than half of the research abstracts that were initially submitted for consideration. By being highly selective in choosing which papers and topics to discuss, Dr Arnold Japutra, S.E., M.M., Ph.D as Chairman of ICEBM 2015 aimed to elevate the quality of the conference and provide attendees with key insights into important issues in today’s international business landscape.

Foremost among the topics raised during ICEBM 2015 was the need for greater connectivity among businesses in the region. Prof. Ir. Roesdiman Soegiarso, M.Sc., Ph.D as Rector of UNTAR in his opening speech noted that in order to face rising competition and grow, it is important that local companies build sustainable business networks through the internet in a hyper-connected world. Other speakers during the conference echoed this sentiment, including Dr. Chong Chee Leong (Singapore), who touched upon the need for excellent networks in ensuring the survival and strong business performance of start-up companies. Through the ICEBM, UNTAR intends to continue to play an influential role in encouraging discourse essential to the ongoing development of regional businesses.
