On 24th March 2017, BNI Syariah hosted a symposium alongside Indonesian organisation, Majelis Upaya Kesehatan Islam Seluruh Indonesia (MUKISI), as a form of support towards the establishment of shariah hospitals in the country. The company’s latest measure is in keeping with its recently-initiated move to support the development of local communities through cutting-edge public facilities as well as financial support. Event attendees included Senior Executive Vice President of Risks and Communications at BNI Syariah, Ms Tribuana Tunggadewi as well as Chairman of MUKISI, dr. Masyhudi AM, M.Kes.
During the event, Ms Tribuana Tunggadewi – on behalf of BNI Syariah – signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MUKISI that will involve both parties to assist in the development of shariah economics in addition to shariah-based healthcare services. The main objective of the MOU is to also increase the level of professionalism in the Islamic healthcare sector, particularly in hospitals and clinics. In ensuring a standardised procedure in operating a shariah-based healthcare facility, MUKISI has drafted the fatwa DSN-MUI No. 107/DSN-MUI/X/2016 regarding Guidelines to Operating a Hospital based on the Principles of Shariah. Within this fatwa includes detailed information regarding the general code of ethics, doctor’s code of ethics as well as the minimum service standards, among other types of details. BNI Syariah also demonstrated its full support towards the shariah hospital initiative thus the company will utilise its wide-ranging products and services to push for a greater number of shariah hospitals across Indonesia. As BNI Syariah moves ahead in carrying out its ‘Hasanah Lifestyle’ concept as a means of pushing for stronger growth of Islamic banking in Indonesia, the company remains committed in cooperating with partners who share similar industry objectives.
