On 12th March 2015, PT Pan Brothers Tbk presented scholarships to 1,000 high school students at an event held in the auditorium of the company’s state of the art Eco Selaras Pan Indonesia office in Boyolali, Central Java. As part of Pan Brothers’ wide range of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the event served as the conclusion of the third phase of Lari Untuk Amal Sosial (LUAS Tahap III), a joint program between PT Pan Brothers Tbk and IndoRunners - a community of running enthusiasts - in which the company provides a donation to a scholarship fund of an amount depending upon the collective distance run by IndoRunners.
First launched on 28th August 2014, LUAS Tahap III saw Pan Brothers agree to donate 10,000 IDR for every kilometer run by a member of IndoRunners. Since its commencement, the program has succeeded in amassing over 3,000 participants, who by accumulating 435,000 km over a 7 month period secured a total donation of 4.35 billion IDR from Pan Brothers used in providing scholarships for the aforementioned group of 1,000 high school students.
Among the esteemed guests at the scholarship presentation ceremony were Ms Anne Patricia Sutanto as Vice CEO of PT Pan Brothers Tbk; Mr Holip Soekawan, Organizer of LUAS and an IndoRunners committee member; and Mr Seno Samodro, Regent of Boyolali. Other event attendees included representatives from Central Java’s Governor’s Office, who on behalf of the governor, Mr Ganjar Pranowo, expressed their support for programs designed to boost educational attainment in the province. In remarks shared with event attendees through a press release, Mr Pranowo expressed hope that Pan Brothers’ latest CSR initiative would serve to “inspire Indonesian society to care more about the development of education in the country”.
LUAS Tahap III, which has received widespread support from the public, is part of Pan Brothers’ effort to help students who are devoid of means to continue their education at the high-school level. PT Pan Brothers Tbk as one of the largest garment manufacturers in Indonesia recognizes the importance of education in creating high-quality human resources that will increase national competitiveness as well as promote social prosperity.
