“ We intend to explore niche markets in technical textiles as we see potential in this segment. This includes seeking opportunities in areas such as eco-garments and applications of technical textiles in the medical, health and wellness fields. ”
Shinta Indah Jaya was first established as the original manufacturing unit of the prominent Shinta Group. With the group’s continued expansion, our company also became known as a prominent manufacturer of circular, warp, and flat knitted fabrics in the country. Through our focus on R&D and human capital investment, our high-quality products have been utilized by leading global brands such as H&M and Adidas.
Being a part of an integrated textile group has provided us with added efficiency and a competitive edge in the local and international markets. As such, through our collaboration with our upstream sister company, Sulindafin, we are able to produce value-added functional fabrics which are being supplied to a diverse range of industries including garment, footwear, lamination, toys, and audio equipment.
Standing at the core of our business is our purpose-driven corporate culture. Based on mutual care and respect to best serve all our stakeholders, we implement the key values of honesty, integrity and professionalism throughout our operations.
Going forward, we intend to explore niche markets in technical textiles as we see potential in this segment. This includes investigating opportunities in areas such as eco-garments and applications of technical textiles in the medical, health and wellness fields.
Indonesia’s large population of over 250 million people and a growing middle-class presents a huge domestic market for our company. Amidst any potential global economic turbulence, this domestic market has always served as a safety net for local textile manufacturers.
Despite the slowdown in the industry since 2013 due to increasing electricity prices and low oil prices, we have seen growth throughout 2017 and we see a positive outlook into 2018. Furthermore, textiles have been designated as a national priority according to the government’s Masterplan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia Economic Development (MP3EI) given the country’s current status as a major exporter of textiles and garments. The government is also aiming to promote Central Java province as a new textile manufacturing hub since the minimum wage in that region is as competitive as Pakistan and lower than Vietnam.
This is in-line with Shinta Indah Jaya’s expansion plans within West & Central Java as we are in the process of building a new factory that will double our production capacity by 2020.
The government has certainly helped our industry through various efforts such as the implementation of safeguard measures to protect the local textile industry from unfair dumping by China and other nations. Through increased governmental support, the industry has an export potential of $75 billion USD by 2030, enabling Indonesia to be amongst the top 5 largest textile producers in the world.
Moreover, Indonesia has been pursuing bilateral trade deals with international partners which will help Shinta Indah Jaya expand its global market presence. The government signed a CEPA agreement with Chile in 2017 and are in the final stages of signing one with Australia. There is also increasing interest in the government joining the TPP agreement which will prove advantageous for Indonesia and the textile industry.
We see a large potential within the sportswear and athleisure market, both in Indonesia and abroad. The country’s growing middle-class has become increasingly health-conscious, which will boost the demand for sportswear. Moreover, with some 43% of the population under the age of 25, we are bullish about the future of active and performance apparel, given the high level of sporting activities that this demographic will engage in.
We are already working with major sporting brands such as Adidas, Reebok, Puma and Asics and are thus well-prepared to capitalize on this market segment. Aside from sportswear, we are currently working with potential partners to produce eco-garments from recycled polyester.
As mentioned earlier, we also intend to explore niche markets involving the use of technical textiles in the medical, health and wellness segments.
We are always open to forming synergistic partnerships with local and international brands. We are part of an established integrated textile group and thus have a streamlined supply chain to offer. Furthermore, we are supported by an adept management team and a dedicated workforce who undergo routine training so as to maintain our passion for excellence and the highest standards of quality at every stage of production. Proven over the decades, we have been able to nurture long-term business relationships with our valued customers built on complete trust and confidence.
With more than 40 years of experience in Indonesia’s textile manufacturing industry, Shinta Indah Jaya continues to strive to exceed the expectations of our customers through reliable delivery of quality products at competitive prices with personalized care.
