On 20th September 2017, Sarinah participated at the 2017 Indonesia Business and Development Expo (IBDexpo) which was held at the Jakarta Convention Center. The event – organised by the National Publishing and News Corporation (NPNC), and supported primarily by the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises – serves as a platform for state-owned enterprises and international businesses to showcase their products and services as well as to initiate potential investment opportunities and partnerships. Through the event, Sarinah aims to highlight an array of quality local products manufactured by its small and medium enterprises (SME) partners.
This year’s event featured a speech from President Joko Widodo, a conference on the digital economy, and networking sessions. Sarinah exhibited wide-ranging selections of premium-quality batik garments from Trenggalek, woven fabrics from Alor, in addition to locally produced handicrafts, artwork, clothing and bags. Furthermore, Sarinah also made available chilli sauces, Carica, and coffee products from Indonesia — Sarinah produces its own coffee from its Cup of Djava brand.
Through its participation at the IBDexpo 2017, Sarinah provides local creative industries with the development tools needed to reach potential domestic, regional and global markets. By specialising itself in the provision of local products, the company will continue to search for new opportunities to simultaneously broaden its consumer base as well as that of local brands that can represent Indonesia on the global stage.
