On 15th March 2017, Perbanas Institute through its ‘Lembaga Anti-Fraud Perbanas’ (LATIFA Perbanas) organisation, hosted an event in partnership with Kedaipena.com on the topic of corruption in Indonesia. Perbanas Institute invited prominent figures with expertise in combatting corruption and fraud as a means of sharing knowledge and insight to curb the years-long national problem. Members of the discussion panel included Ir. Agus Rahardjo, MSM as the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Prof. Dr. Ikrar Nusa Bhakti as Senior Political Analyst at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences; Prof. Dr. Haryono Umar as the Director of LATIFA Perbanas; representatives of Indonesia’s Inspectorate General and industry leaders in banking and finance among others.
Perbanas Institute highlighted the wide-ranging impact of corruption towards Indonesia’s socioeconomic development such as the role of the public and private sector in combatting corruption and the various measures that can be undertaken to push for transparency in all sectors. During the event, the keynote speakers further emphasised the immense repercussions of corruption towards Indonesia’s economy while also highlighting the importance of education and socialisation initiatives in minimising corruption. As such, Perbanas Institute is poised to play an increasing role in instilling the principle of integrity amongst the country’s future generation.
