On Tuesday, 13th May 2015, Rector of Perbanas Institute, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Marsudi Wahyu Kisworo, made an official press conference statement on the topic of launch preparations for ‘Vision 2019’ (also referred to as V-19) as the institute’s strategic roadmap to face the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and a regionally-integrated financial market by 2020. As described in subsequent publications by local media such as Sinar Harapan, the vision was also designed as an answer to the country’s high demand for professional bankers given the context of Indonesia’s position as a top 10 economic global powerhouse. V-19 aims to make Perbanas a top banking education institution in Asia through various concrete steps set to take place over the next 5 years.
In his statement, Prof. Marsudi mentioned that the institute has taken the first step to achieving the vision by implementing a competency-based curriculum with a specialised focus in finance, banking, and informatics. The emphasis on the importance of balancing soft and hard skills was highlighted in order to overcome future challenges within the industry. This therefore represents the institute’s understanding of present and future trends in Indonesia’s banking sector as well as its confidence in producing skilled professional bankers fulfilling the country’s human resources demand.
