On 13th February 2017, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya signed an MOU with local transportation, hospitality, and tourism operator PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk, which took place at the Arista Hotel in Palembang. The cooperation will see the university’s undergraduate Event study programme, Hospitality Business study programme, and the Tourism Business study programme collaborate with PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk over a range of initiatives such as knowledge sharing, skill formation, management co-learning, scholarships, and entrepreneurship development.
Present at the signing event were Rector of Universitas Prasetiya Mulya Prof. Dr. Djisman Simanjuntak, Mr Budi Tirtawisata as President Director of PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk; Prof. Agus Soehadi as Dean of the School of Business and Economics; Head of Hospitality Business study programme Mr Yudo Hartono MM; and Peni Zulandari as Head of Event study programme. Through this partnership, PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk will make available internship opportunities for Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s students as well as guest lecturers and industrial site visits. Both institutions will implement certified training programmes for employees of PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk, students, and the public in the field of hospitality, transportation management, and tourism — Universitas Prasetiya Mulya and PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk will also provide scholarships for short courses, education programmes and training for the university’s students in addition to employees of the company. Furthermore, the MOU also encompasses academic research and business development strategies that can be utilised by both parties.
Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s most recent MOU signing further demonstrates the university’s active approach towards collaboration with industry players. With Indonesia making headway in building a national tourism brand, the university’s efforts in ensuring the balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application within the curricula further strengthens its capability to produce ready-to-work graduates.
