On 22nd September 2016, leading business education institution, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya hosted a seminar on the recent advancements in the international food technology industry which took place at its BSD campus. The seminar featured renowned scholars from Monash University, Australia who provided their invaluable insights on the latest progress in food technology to faculty members, students, alumni as well as executives from Indonesia’s food and beverages industry.
Monash University’s Professor of Chemical Engineering, Prof. Cordella Selomulya and Director of Food Innovation Centre, Prof. Nicolas Georges shared their knowledge on the utilisation of spray drying technology used to make powdered milk and other food products. Furthermore, Prof. Georges illustrated the impact of Monash University’s Food Innovation Centre to the FMCG industry in Australia; collaborating with companies to introduce innovative best practises in every aspect of front-end research services that can influence businesses.
Through this seminar, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya demonstrates its efforts to encourage its students to spur technological advancements of Indonesia’s food processing and production capabilities. Students of the university’s own Food Business and Technology undergraduate degree programme can capitalise on Indonesia’s potential to export locally-manufactured value-added food products to the global market.
