From 11th – 15th October 2017, Sarinah participated at the Indonesia Trade Expo (TEI) 2017 which was held at the Indonesia Convention and Exhibition centre in BSD. Themed “Global Partner for Sustainable Resource”, TEI 2017 aimed to highlight local products and services that were produced in accordance with international environmental and social standards. Supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, the expo was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Mr Joko Widodo with Minister of Trade Mr Enggartiasto Lukita also present at the event. The expo attracted more than 1,000 participants which included private local businesses, state-owned enterprises, as well as buyers from 125 countries; this year some $1.1 billion USD in transactions were targeted. In addition to the exhibition, the trade expo also provided opportunities for networking, as well as seminars, talk shows, and business consultation on trade, tourism and investment.
At its stand, Sarinah showcased home furnishing products, handicrafts and fashion items among many others, produced by its many SME partners; products were sourced from across the archipelago to highlight Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage and diversity. As Indonesia’s economy steadily matures, its creative industries hold great potential in contributing and improving national development. As such, through Sarinah’s participation at the 2017 Trade Expo, the company is actively promoting the country’s creative talents which will thus spur opportunities for investment and comprehensive export partnerships.
